Police arrests 2 drug peddlers in Baramulla, Handwara; Contraband substances recovered

Srinagar January 21 (KNS): Continuing its relentless drive against the menace of drugs, police have arrested 2 drug peddlers in Baramulla & Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party of Police Station Boniyar headed by SHO PS Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Hundi Nowshera intercepted one suspicious person. During search, 10 grams of Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Malik Sajad son of Nazir Ahmad resident of Pandithpora. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Similarly in Handwara, a police party at a checkpoint established at Qalamabad Chowk, intercepted a suspicious person.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelDuring search, 25 grams of contraband Charas-like substances was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and has been identified as Javid Ahmad War son of Gh Nabi War resident of Lach Mawar.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.

Police urge the public to cooperate in the fight against drug abuse. Any suspicious activities related to drugs or other crimes can be reported to the nearest police station or by dialling 112. The police remain committed to taking strict legal action against offenders and ensuring a drug-free society.(KNS)
