Police Recovers Illicit Timber in Sopore, Case Registered

Srinagar January 15 (KNS): Police in Sopore have successfully recovered a consignment of illicit timber and seized a vehicle (tractor) within the jurisdiction of Police Station Sopore.


Acting on specific intelligence about the illegal extraction of willow timber logs from Forest Compartment No. 14, Janwara Nambal during the night of 13/14 January 2025. Acting swiftly, a police team from Police Post Warpora along with the Forest Department, established a checkpoint at Janwara and intercepted a vehicle (tractor) bearing registration No. JK05D-3984. During search, illicit willow timber cut from Forest Compartment No.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel13, Janwara Nambal, was recovered from the said vehicle (tractor).

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 05/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation is underway.
