Srinagar February 18 (KNS): It is heartening to announce that Chairman Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Amitava Chatterjee, has been gracious enough to gift three computers along with an equal number of printers to the Press Club of Kashmir under the Social Responsibility Scheme (SRS).
The club's executive body on Tuesday expressed gratitude to the bank management for this gesture, which will allow Kashmir journalists to benefit from the facilities provided by the Bank. Moreover, they extended thanks to the management, particularly to Bank Chairman Mr. Amitava Chatterjee, for enabling the journalists to use these facilities, which would help them pursue their profession effectively.
The computers will be available for all Kashmir-based journalists, as well as visiting journalists, to send their stories or write-ups to their respective media houses without any hassle. The system is already supported by the internet facilities installed at the Press Club of Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Additionally, the Patron/President of the PCK, Mohammad Saleem Pandit, has taken up several issues with the Rotary Club of Delhi and Mumbai for assistance with the installation of an internet service provider, which will offer round-the-clock internet facilities to journalists at the club. The Ministry of Petroleum has also been approached for financial assistance under the SRS scheme for constructing a building for the Press Club at a suitable location.
The executive body, under the chairmanship of Mohammad Saleem Pandit, has further resolved not to seek any assistance from the UT government, which has already declined to provide any government space in Srinagar for the club, for reasons best known to the UT government under CM Omar Abdullah.(KNS)
