Public frustration has been rising in Karnah Valley due to continuous power curtailment over the past week, causing widespread distress. The situation led Javaid Ahmad Mirchal, MLA of Karnah, to step in and engage with key officials from the district and power departments to seek an immediate resolution.
In a crucial meeting with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Kupwara and the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Power Department, Mr. Mirchal conveyed the grievances of the people, stressing the significant disruption to daily life caused by the prolonged power outages. Residents have expressed outrage over the lack of immediate solutions, with power cuts severely impacting both homes and businesses.
In addition to speaking with district officials, Mr. Mirchal held discussions with the Chief Engineer of the Power Development Department (PDD). He reaffirmed his commitment to addressing their concerns and ensuring that normal power supply is restored at the earliest.
The power department officials explained that the ongoing outages were primarily due to essential maintenance work, including the cutting of tree branches near power lines to prevent further damage. They assured Mr. Mirchal that the work was nearing completion, and electricity would be restored according to the established schedule within a few days.
Mr. Mirchal urged the officials to expedite the process to relieve the suffering of the people of Karnah. He remains hopeful that swift action will bring much-needed relief to the region. The local administration has also promised to take all necessary steps to prevent further delays and ensure uninterrupted power supply to the valley.(KNS)
