Pulwama Police Arrests Notorious Drug Peddler, 76kg poppy straw recovered

Pulwama, Aug 03 (KNS): In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, a police party from Police Post Newa established a Naka checkpoint in the Karewa of Nowpora Nagam. During the operation, a drug peddler identified as Jalal-u-din Sheikh, son of Gh Mohd Sheikh, resident of Wampora Nagam, District Badgam, was apprehended. He was found in possession of 06 bags of poppy straw-like substance and a digital weighing machine, carried in his vehicle, a Ford Figo bearing Registration No. DL10CF 2319.

A case, FIR No. 156/2024, has been registered at Police Station Pulwama under relevant sections of law. The weight of the seized poppy straw-like substance was found to be 76kg.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized, and the accused was arrested on the spot.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing, and more recoveries and arrests are expected as the police intensify their efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
