Kulgam January 10 (KNS): The road connecting Chattbal to Kulgam has been in a deplorable condition for the past three years, causing immense hardships to local residents. The road, a crucial link for commuters and farmers, is filled with potholes and is increasingly difficult to navigate, particularly during the harsh winter months.
Local residents have repeatedly raised concerns about the deteriorating state of the road, which has resulted in frequent accidents and delays in transportation. They have now appealed to the district administration and the MLA of Kulgam to address the issue urgently and take necessary steps to repair and maintain the road.
“We have been facing this problem for the last three years. In response to the concerns, officials from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) division in Kulgam stated that they are currently awaiting approval from higher authorities to initiate a comprehensive repair plan. However, they assured that temporary repairs would be carried out within the next few days to alleviate the immediate difficulties faced by the locals.
“We understand the inconvenience caused to the residents, and while we are waiting for approval from higher authorities, we will ensure that temporary repairs are done in the coming days to bring some relief,” said an official from the R&B division.
Local residents have expressed hope that this temporary measure will offer them some respite until permanent solutions are put in place. They remain optimistic that the road will soon be fully restored to a safe and usable condition.(KNS)
