Rohit Sharma Breaks Sachin's Record with Stunning Century as India Seals Series Win

Srinagar, Feb 11 (KNS): Indian captain Rohit Sharma silenced his critics with a magnificent century in the second ODI against England on Sunday (February 9) at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, leading India to a six-wicket victory and securing the series.  


Rohit delivered a dominant performance, scoring 119 off 90 balls at a blistering strike rate of 132.22, which included 12 fours and seven sixes. He reached his 32nd ODI century in just 76 balls, setting the tone for India's successful chase of 305 runs.  

The Indian skipper also made history by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most ODI centuries after turning 30, scoring his 22nd ton in the format. Rohit’s six-hitting prowess was on full display as he surpassed Chris Gayle’s tally (331) and inched closer to Shahid Afridi’s ODI record of 351 sixes. Only Kumar Sangakkara (43) has scored more international centuries after turning 30, with Ricky Ponting and Matthew Hayden (36) now level with Rohit.
