Sadhotra hails one time amnesty on power bills, pilgrim tourism promotion, pro-people policies of CM

Jammu, March 18 (KNS): National Conference Additional General Secretary and former minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, today hailed the announcement of a one-time amnesty on power bills and the promotion of pilgrim tourism by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while speaking in response to discussions on the grants of the departments under his charge in the Legislative Assembly.

Addressing a public meeting at Jandial in Nagrota Assembly Constituency which was organized by Joginder Singh Kaku and Devinder Singh Block President, Sadhotra termed these initiatives as significant steps towards economic relief and infrastructural development in Jammu and Kashmir.

Welcoming the amnesty on power bills, Sadhotra said that this decision would provide much-needed relief to consumers who have been struggling with accumulated electricity dues. He said that the move reflects the Chief Minister’s commitment to addressing the grievances of the common people and ensuring financial stability for consumers, particularly in the wake of economic challenges.

Highlighting the importance of pilgrim tourism especially in Jammu, Sadhotra lauded the Chief Minister’s vision to promote religious destinations across Jammu and Kashmir. Developing pilgrim tourism would not only boost the local economy but also enhance the state’s reputation as a spiritual and cultural hub, he said, urging all stakeholders to work collectively in strengthening tourism infrastructure, which in turn would generate employment opportunities and contribute to economic growth.

Sadhotra also welcomed the assurance given by the Chief Minister regarding the equitable release of advertisements to newspapers, saying that fair distribution of government advertisements is imperative for the healthy growth of the fourth estate in Jammu and Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelA balanced and impartial media environment, he said, is crucial for upholding democracy and ensuring that public concerns are effectively highlighted.

Expressing confidence about the clearance of pending SRO-43 cases, Mr. Sadhotra said that this move would provide respite to hundreds of families who have lost their earning members due to death in harness. He underscored the need for expediting these cases on humanitarian grounds, as they involve the livelihoods of bereaved families struggling to cope with their loss.

The National Conference Additional General Secretary also complimented Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his path-breaking initiatives and pro-people policies.

He said that these measures align with the core agenda of the National Conference, which has always stood for the welfare and development of the people. He reiterated the party’s commitment to ensuring social justice, economic empowerment, and inclusive governance in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sadhotra called upon the people to extend their full support to their own government in its efforts to implement progressive policies and reforms. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, Jammu and Kashmir would continue to witness significant strides in development and governance with the all segments of society, irrespective of religion, region and caste remaining focus of the governmental policies.
