Handwara, October 19 (KNS): Sajad Gani Lone, the Chairman of the People's Conference and MLA of Handwara, expressed sharp criticism of the current government, particularly its handling of Article 370 and the lack of fulfillment of electoral promises.

Speaking exclusively to KNS, Lone stated that the abrogation of Article 370 affects the entire nation and is not merely a political tool for point-scoring.

"Article 370 is the matter of the whole nation, not just one person. They passed resolution of statehood in cabinet. It should have come for vote in Assembly, everyone would know who is supporting and opposing. There’s no room for point-scoring on such a serious issue," said Lone, highlighting that any genuine resolution must come from the assembly not from cabinet.

He accused the government of using the issue to "save someone" rather than taking meaningful legislative steps.

Lone also addressed the ongoing grievances of the people regarding electricity bills, job shortages, and unfulfilled promises from the ruling party.

"Wherever we go, people are asking when they’ll receive their Rs. 5000 pension or their free 200 units of electricity.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelMany of them don’t even have meters," he noted, criticizing the government's handling of basic amenities.

In addition, he lambasted the government’s approach to job creation, stating, "They talk about new jobs, but even the old jobs left vacant after retirements remain unfilled."

The MLA further accused the NC of betraying the trust of the Kashmiri people, stating, "The people trusted a party whose past is stained with blood. Kashmir is stained with blood, and now you make the leaders of those responsible for this bloodshed."

He called upon the public to remember these failures and to hold the government accountable.

"This is what Allah will ask you in the hereafter," Lone said, urging voters to reflect on their choices.

Lone assured that the People's Conference would continue standing by the people and would ensure their voices are heard. "We will continue to fight for the promises that have been made to the people," he affirmed. (KNS)
