Srinagar, Oct 29 (KNS): Handwara MLA Sajad Lone and CPI(M) leader, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Wednesday raised concern in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly over the health condition of jailed separatist leader Shabir Shah, urging the government to convey the matter to the Union Home Ministry.
Speaking in the House, Lone said Shabir Shah is not a militant but a political leader with a different ideology who has spent most of his life in jail. “He can’t even get up or take care of himself,” Lone said as Per KNS.
He questioned the silence of the Assembly on the matter, asking, “Then what about this Assembly? We talk about Kashmiri nationalism and Jammu nationalism, but when one of our own people is suffering, we remain quiet.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
Lone asked the government to find a way to express concern over Shah’s condition through proper channels. “We may not be able to interfere, but expressing concern cannot be a crime or against the law,” he said.
The MLA said Shabir Shah, who is lodged in a jail outside Jammu and Kashmir, is unable to carry out even basic daily activities. “I have seen him; he has spent his whole life in jail,” Lone said, adding that the issue should not be ignored.
Lone remarked that he had already submitted five questions in the Assembly but had not received any responses. “Sir, don’t fix a match in this too. Give me one more question,” he said.(KNS).
