Srinagar, Aug 28(KNS): Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Lone has strongly condemned the rejection of Sarjan Barkati’s election nomination form.

In a statement, Lone criticized the decision, highlighting the challenging circumstances faced by Barkati and his family, who are currently imprisoned.

Lone called for a thorough investigation by the Election Commission into the reasons and conditions surrounding the form’s rejection.

"The rejection of the election form of Sarjan Barkati is highly condemnable. This family has gone through a terrible time. Both Barkati Sahib and his wife are behind the bars. I request the election commission to investigate the conditions and the context in which the form was rejected. Election cannot be an exclusive luxury. That defeats the whole purpose of elections," Sajad Lone said in a post on 'X'.(KNS)
