Srinagar, Aug 01(KNS): The elections of Sangam Cricket Club which is one of the oldest registered cricket clubs in J&K and affiliated with Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association was held today to elect new executive body members.
It it's statement the body said that the elections were held in a very cordial manner in presence of one of the prominent cricketers of J&K and General Secretary of City Cricket Club, Mohammad Ashrat Bhat who has also played a role in the working committee of Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association on many ocassions in the past.
"Mohammad Ashraf Bhat who acted as an observer, recorded all the proceedings of the election. After members exercised their franchise the newly elected executive body led by former first class cricketers Wajahat Majeed, who was elected as President and Fayaz Ahmad Hazari who was elected as General Secretary of the club came into being," it said.
It futher said the newly elected body shall run the club affairs and represent the club in all matters and correspond with the concerned quarters henceforth read the club handout.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
"The other elected exective members of the club include former General Secretary Mir Gazanfar who assumed a new role of chief patron while Majid Ahmad was elected as treasurer besides Fayaz Ahmad, Sameer Ahmad and Aftab Ahmad elected as other members of the club," it said.
"While the newly elected president Wajahat Majeed appreciated the tenure of the outgoing president Shiban Lal Trakroo who played a very dynamic role to uphold the ethos of the club and always advocated for the fair selection and fair play," it added.
"In response the outgoing president expressed his full faith in the newly elected body and hoped that fresh legs will infuse new enthusiasm and vigor in the club activities and always safeguard the rights of players and others associated with the club.The elections concluded with vote of thanks by the outgoing General Secretary of the club," it added.(KNS).
