Handwara, July 11 (KNS): A team of supervisors, led by N & HM Kouser , in collaboration with a team of doctors, conducted a screening camp for anemia at Satkoji Panchayat in Rajwar, Handwara. The camp focused on detecting anemia in women and children, screening nearly 50 beneficiaries, including pregnant and lactating women (PL/NM) and children aged 3 to 6 years.
According to Abida War, one of the ICDS supervisors, the screening revealed that three pregnant women were found to have moderate anemia. Additionally, one child was identified with moderate anemia, while two adolescent girls were found to be moderately and severely anemic, respectively. In addition to anemia screening, the camp also identified one girl with a deformed foot. She has been referred to the concerned quarters for further medical attention and treatment.
The camp aimed to raise awareness about anemia, its causes, and its impact on health. The team provided information on nutrition and the importance of a balanced diet rich in iron. The screening and subsequent referrals are part of ongoing efforts to improve the health and well-being of the community, War said,
