Srinagar, Oct 27(KNS): The Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Beerwah has been without a Block Medical Officer (BMO) for four months, affecting patient care and hospital operations.

A senior doctor has taken charge as caretaker BMO, but patients continue to face challenges due to the lack of administrative support.

The BMO position became vacant in June 2024 after the retirement of the former BMO and has not been filled.

Reports indicate that the absence of a regular BMO has led to delayed medical procedures, insufficient staff supervision, limited medical supplies, increased patient referrals to other hospitals, and reduced availability of emergency services.

Residents have expressed concern over the hospital's limitations. "My mother needed urgent care, but the hospital couldn't provide it due to administrative delays," said Imtiyaz Ahmad, a local.

"The hospital's condition is poor. We're forced to visit Srinagar or other districts for medical care," stated Bilal Ahmad, another resident.

Hospital staff are also affected, struggling to deliver basic medical care without proper resources and oversight. "We're doing our best, but the lack of administrative support hampers our work," commented a hospital employee.(KNS).
