Srinagar, December 31 (KNS): In a bizarre incident, the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Tangmarg cancelled all surgeries scheduled for today after the facility's generator stopped functioning due to a technical fault, prompting doctors to shut down the operation theater.
Jan Mohammad Rather, a resident of Kunzer and guardian of 16-year-old patient who was scheduled to undergo surgery for piles (hemorrhoids), expressed frustration over the situation. He said, "The patient was admitted yesterday and her surgery was scheduled for today. Shockingly, we were informed that the surgery cannot be performed because the hospital generator has stopped working."
Rather added, "We, along with other patients, were told to return after a few days. Additionally, the anesthesiologist at the facility reportedly fell ill, further delaying the scheduled surgeries.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelNow, in this harsh cold, we are forced to travel to Baramulla, which is 25 kilometers away, to seek treatment for our patient."
Another attendant criticized the hospital's management, saying, "The people of Tangmarg deserve better. SDH Tangmarg must be transformed into a facility that provides care, reliability, and trust. I urge the authorities to address these issues immediately. Enough delays—it's time to prioritize the health and dignity of our community."
When contacted, BMO Tangmarg, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad, stated, "The anesthesiologist at the facility fell ill, and the 63 kVA transformer that supplies power to the hospital developed a fault. However, we do not perform emergency emergency surgeries at this facility. We are keenly looking into the matter," he added.(KNS)
