BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 10 (KNS): Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, today visited Government Medical College (GMC) and associated Hospital Baramulla and inspected the healthcare facilities besides assessing patient care status there.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, accompanied the Secretary.
During the visit, the Secretary visited different departments of GMC to take first hand appraisal of the facilities available and efficiency of the service delivery.
Dr. Abid Rasheed inspected Wards, Operation Theatres, Outdoor Patients Department (OPD), Resident Rooms, Sanitary Blocks, testing centers and other healthcare units.
He had a comprehensive evaluation of the emergency block, assessing patient care, inflow of patients, management practices, health interventions, security measures and related areas for optimal operational efficiency and patient well-being within the emergency department.
The Secretary issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned authorities for upholding impeccable standards of hygiene and cleanliness in GMC premises. He emphasised the significance of optimizing patient flow management in both outpatient and inpatient departments, aiming to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery and total patient care.
While listening to their demands, Abid Rasheed assured them that the administration would prioritize addressing these issues to ensure overall quality of patient care.
Dr. Abid Rasheed also interacted with the doctors, para-medical staff and listened to their demands for enhancing healthcare facilities and improved patient care at the hospital.
Later, the Secretary chaired a meeting of officers from various departments including healthcare, R&B, PHE and others to address the issues that were highlighted during inspection of the GMC baramulla.
Dr. Abid Rasheed instructed the officials of R&B department to address concerns regarding minor leakages, seepages, loose tiles, broken AC vents, ramps, other significant repairs and drainage issues within the hospital premises.
He also directed the PHE department to ensure effective filtration of water that is dispensed across GMC and provision for water ATMs to enhance accessibility of clean water to the general public within the premises.
Principal GMC, Professor Dr Ruby Reshi, Medical Superintendent, Parvaiz Masoodi, Professors, Doctors, Officers from line Departments, Paramedics and other concerned were present in the meeting.(KNS)
