Srinagar, September 14 (KNS): Inspector General of Police Kashmir, V K Birdi, said that security forces in Jammu and Kashmir remain on high alert, working tirelessly to thwart the plans of terrorists aiming to disrupt peace in the region.

Speaking to reporters during his visit to Tappar Pattan where encounter is going on, IGP said that Terrorists try hard to carry out such attacks but army, security forces, and J&K police remain highly alert and watchful. On Pattan encounter, IGP said that cordon and search operation was launched based on intelligence reports suggesting the presence of terrorists in the area.

He said that the operation is going on and security forces has been focused on target building and the areas around it.

He said that security forces have seen the bodies of some terrorists, the precise number of those killed is still being determined.(KNS)
