Srinagar, Sep 18 (KNS): The first phase of polling in 24 constituencies across seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir was conducted peacefully, with no reports of untoward incidents.
Security forces, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), were on alert to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election process.
Authorities expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the polling, crediting the diligent efforts of the security forces for the smooth operation. “Our personnel were on their toes throughout the day to ensure that voters could exercise their democratic rights without fear,” said a senior police official. “Their dedication has ensured a peaceful atmosphere, enabling a high voter turnout.”
As per KNS, the security arrangements were extensive, with multiple layers of deployment to prevent any disruptions.
Checkpoints were set up at strategic locations, and patrolling was intensified in sensitive areas. The presence of security forces at polling stations was intended not only to deter potential troublemakers but also to instill confidence among voters.
Polling in these seven districts had been closely monitored due to concerns about security especially in some sensitive areas. However, the comprehensive measures implemented by the authorities effectively mitigated these risks.
“The coordination between the police, CRPF, and CAPFs was commendable,” noted an election official overseeing the process.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“We had anticipated challenges, but the seamless collaboration among various agencies ensured that the polls went off without a hitch."
In some constituencies, particularly those considered vulnerable to disturbances, additional security personnel were deployed. This proactive approach was aimed at maintaining law and order and addressing any emerging issues swiftly. "We left nothing to chance," stated a Police officer involved in the operation. "Our teams were well-prepared to handle any situation, but the day passed without any incidents."
Voters across the 24 constituencies responded positively to the security arrangements. Many expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the security forces in maintaining peace and order. "We felt safe coming to the polling station," said a voter from one of the districts. "The presence of security personnel made us feel secure, and we were able to vote without any fear or intimidation."
The smooth conduct of the first phase of polling is seen as a significant achievement, especially in regions where security concerns have historically impacted the electoral process. The authorities have emphasized that the same level of vigilance and preparedness will continue in the upcoming phases of the elections. "We will maintain our focus and ensure that the remaining phases are conducted with the same level of security and efficiency," a senior CAPF official affirmed.(KNS)
