Srinagar, Aug 30 (KNS): As Jammu and Kashmir prepares for upcoming Assembly elections, with the first phase scheduled for September 18, security measures have been significantly intensified across the region. Authorities are taking proactive steps to ensure a peaceful and orderly election process.
Security officials emphasized that although there is still time before the elections begin, the mobilization of security forces is crucial to maintaining law and order.
Additional paramilitary forces have started arriving in Jammu and Kashmir as part of the preparations for the three-phase Assembly elections.
The Union Home Ministry had directed that the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), initially deployed for the Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrimage in June, remain in the region to provide security during the elections. These forces will be on the ground for the election dates of September 18, September 25, and October 1.

Some have already arrived, while others are expected to reach in the coming days," sources confirmed.
The deployed forces will undertake a range of responsibilities, including patrolling, securing polling stations, and safeguarding venues for election rallies.
Special attention will be given to the hilly areas of Jammu districts, which are deemed sensitive due to the potential presence of foreign militants.
An increase in election rallies, especially those featuring high-profile leaders, is anticipated in the coming weeks. Security forces are fully prepared to manage the security needs for these events.
"The additional deployment of CAPF is essential for ensuring a peaceful election process, especially given the rise in rallies and the sensitive nature of some areas," a security official stated. The coordinated efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and paramilitary forces aim to create a secure environment, ensuring the elections are conducted smoothly and safely.(KNS)
