Srinagar, December 10(KNS): Jammu Kashmir People's Party (JKPP) Chief Sheeban Ashai has criticized the government over its reservation policy, particularly in the context of recent recruitment advertisements for lecturer posts and NEET-PG admissions.
Speaking about the advertisement for 575 lecturer posts by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC), Ashai highlighted that 337 posts are allocated to reserved categories, leaving limited opportunities for open merit candidates. The eligibility criteria for these posts are based on the Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department Service Recruitment Rules, 2010, issued via SRO 481.
Ashai questioned the rationale behind advertising new posts while a sub-committee on reservations is already in place to address the matter. He also pointed to the ongoing protests by doctors in Jammu and Kashmir over the allocation of NEET-PG seats, where only 78-80 unreserved candidates secured seats out of 293, amounting to 27% of the total.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The JKPP Chief further referred to changes in the reservation policy under medical education, particularly amendments made through SO 176 (March 15, 2024) and SO 305 (May 21, 2024), which reduced the open merit quota from 75% to below 30%. He argued that such policies have significant implications and called on the government to take immediate corrective measures to ensure fairness in recruitment and education.
The JKPP leadership has urged the government to address the reservation issue promptly to ensure justice for all sections of society and avoid escalating protests.(KNS).
