Srinagar, November 2024 (KNS): In a moment of pride for the Department of Psychiatry at SKIMS Medical College, Dr Hadiya Kar, a Postgraduate Alumni, has brought distinction to the institution by winning the Best Paper Award at the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) International Addiction Conference held in Cardiff, United Kingdom.

The award was presented for her research paper titled ‘Psychiatric Comorbidities and Concurrent Substance Use in Patients Who Inject Drugs,’ which was conducted under the guidance of Dr Abdul Majid, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry (now the Advanced Centre for Mental Health & Addiction Medicine), SKIMS Medical College, Bemina.

Additionally, Prof. Abdul Majid, who played an instrumental role in guiding Dr Hadiya’s research, was recently appointed Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Geriatric Mental Health, a respected journal in the field, during a ceremony held at the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore.
