Srinagar, October 29(KNS): The Department of Neurology SKIMS today commemorated World Stroke Day, a pivotal event dedicated to raising awareness about stroke prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Director SKIMS, EOSG Prof. M Ashraf Ganie who was the chief guest on the occasion emphasised about the preventive measures of stroke and advised to further strengthen the Save brain initiative started by the department of Neurology along with Directorate of health services.
He wished the conference for grand success.
HOD & Organising Chairman Professor Ravouf P. Asmi in his address highlighted the importance of the event , he explained the risk factors and Importance of Early treatment and Prevention of Stroke. He raised the awareness of the importance of Comprehensive Stroke centre at Skims to give state of art treatment to people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The various experts including Prof. M. Maqbool Wani delivered a lecture on medical management of stroke, Dr Abrar A Wani spoke on Surgical management of stroke & Dr Showkat deliberated about Save Brain Initiative which has gone a long way for early treatment of stroke.

World Stroke Day serves as a reminder of the substantial impact strokes have on individuals and society. Through educational seminars, interactive sessions, and public outreach, our department and supporting teams are committed to improving understanding of stroke symptoms, risk factors, and emergency responses that can save lives and reduce long-term disabilities.
The organisers of the event appreciated the support of the Departments of Radiology, Neurosurgery, and Neuroanesthesia and remarked their collaboration ensures a multidisciplinary approach to stroke care, emphasizing early detection, rapid intervention, and comprehensive patient management.
The event was concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Feroze Ahmad Mir organising co-secretary and attended by HOD's and Faculty of various institutions, students and various civil society members.(KNS).
