Srinagar, Nov 09(KNS): Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST-K Celebrates Graduation Day, Sports Week, Food Festival, and Fresher’s Day at Benhama-Watlar Campus.
The Faculty of Forestry at SKUAST-K today celebrated an array of events, including Graduation Day, Sports Week, a Food Festival, and Fresher’s Day, at the Benhama-Watlar Campus. The festivities were inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganaie, who joined faculty, students, and staff in celebrating the accomplishments and traditions of the institution.
The event commenced with the Graduation Day ceremony. Chief Organizer, Professor Syed Naseem Geelani, opened the program with a welcome speech, expressing gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for his ongoing support and visionary leadership that has helped elevate the university's achievements. Prof. Geelani highlighted Graduation Day as a momentous milestone, reflecting years of dedication, growth, and resilience for each graduate. He emphasized the significance of this event, celebrating academic success as well as the personal discipline and adaptability that students have cultivated.
In his address, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Prof. Sajad Ahmad Gangoo, led the students and faculty in an oath to serve humanity, conserve the environment, and protect forests and ecosystems. Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganaie, the Vice Chancellor, encouraged students to carry forward values of resilience and critical thinking. He emphasized the importance of applying these qualities to create positive, lasting impacts in society and acknowledged the organizers for their efforts in executing such meaningful events.

Prof. Ganaie praised Peer Ibrahim, a third-year B.Sc. Forestry student and the Student Organizer of the Food Festival, for his leadership in coordinating the event. Farhana Manzoor and Vineeqa Pandita , anchors were given the awards on the occasion.
Following the food festival, the Sports Week was inaugurated with a volleyball match at the Girls’ Hostel, where Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganaie and Dean of Students Welfare, Prof. Neelofar, commenced the game alongside Chief Warden, Prof. G.M. Bhat, wardens Dr. Maqbool and Dr. Meghna and ASWO, Dr Tahir Mushtaq.
The program concluded with a lively cultural performance by the students, encapsulating the spirit of community and celebration within the Faculty of Forestry. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Akhlaq Amin Wani, who commended the faculty and students for their dedication in making the events a success.
The celebration was attended by prominent university officials, including Director of Research Prof. Haroon R. Naik, Dean of Agriculture Prof. Rehana H. Kant, Dean of Fisheries Prof. Farooz Ahmad Bhat, Estates Officer Junaid N. Khan, and Head of KVK Pulwama Prof. J.A. Mugloo, along with other dignitaries, Heads of Departments, scientific staff, and non-teaching staff of the Faculty of Forestry.(KNS).
