Srinagar, Jan 16 (KNS): The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has completed preparations for snow clearance in Barubari and other areas, ensuring a well-equipped response with a range of machinery and manpower. Commissioner SMC, Dr. Owais Ahmed, stated that modified tractors, 4x4 vehicles, JCBs, loaders, and additional machinery have been deployed for efficient snow removal.
A ward-wise team has been formed, with ward officers and Junior Engineers (JEs) overseeing operations. "We have set up a dual monitoring system for both mechanical and manual snow clearance to ensure smooth progress," Dr. Owais said. He highlighted that over 5,000 lanes and bylanes would be manually cleared, supported by sufficient manpower, while 1,500 km of roads would be cleared mechanically.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

"Our control room, equipped with GPS monitoring, operates 24x7, allowing real-time tracking of machinery and quick response to public grievances through telephone or social media," he added.
Dr. Owais reassured that water pumping stations are being regularly checked for proper functioning, ensuring an effective response to snow-related challenges in the city. (KNS)
