South Kashmir Farmers Fear Loss of Orchards as Railway Project Threatens Farmland in J&K: Altaf Bukhari

 Srinagar, Dec 1 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari on Sunday said, Residents and farmers along the proposed Anantnag-Bijbehara-Pahalgam railway line are expressing growing discontent, with many taking to the streets in protest.

The 77.5 km project, which aims to lay down a rail network in the region, has sparked concerns, particularly since the tender for the Final Location Survey (FLS) was issued.

Bukhari has expressed concern over the project, stating, "There has never been a public demand for a railway line to Pahalgam. The authorities must engage with all stakeholders before making any decisions regarding this matter. No decision should be imposed on the people." (KNS)
