SRINAGAR, July 30 (KNS): Srinagar Police on Thursday issued a firm advisory, cautioning the public against circulating content related to a recent incident at R.P. School, stating that sharing any material involving a minor victim is a punishable offence under the law.
In an official statement, the police said they had received credible information that certain individuals were posting, forwarding, and disseminating sensitive content related to the incident on various social media platforms and messaging applications.
The police underlined that the victim in the case is a minor, and the disclosure, publication, or circulation of any information or material pertaining to the incident is strictly prohibited. "Any person found sharing such content or otherwise violating legal provisions relating to the privacy and protection of minors shall be liable for appropriate legal action," the advisory read.

Authorities also warned that the spread of misinformation, rumours, or speculative narratives not only hampers the ongoing investigation but also causes unnecessary distress to the victim and the family.
Srinagar Police appealed to all citizens to exercise responsibility while using social media and refrain from forwarding unverified or misleading content. "The public is advised to be cautious and avoid amplifying sensitive material," the police said.
Reiterating its commitment to enforce the law, the police stated that any deviation or violation would be dealt with strictly. The advisory comes as part of efforts to ensure the protection of minors' privacy and maintain the integrity of the investigation. (KNS)
