Budgam July 14 (KNS): The Champions Trophy tournament which is held every year at Wathoora Budgam concluded with a grand event held at Shah Qalandar sports stadium on Saturday. The Nawaz XI team lifted the trophy and was given a cash prize of Rs 60,000 as well by the organizers. SSP Aijaz Ahmad Bhat , Staff Officer to DGP & Commandant IR 6th Battalion was chief guest on the occasion and Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat noted social activist was guest of honour.
Batting first Nawaz XI scored 225 runs in 25 overs . Bindas XI their rivals could not chase this huge score and were all out for 188 runs. Amir Takka was declared man of the match and Juwais Manzoor was given man of the series award. Chief guest Aijaz Ahmad Bhat , IPS , Staff Officer to DGP & Commandant IR 6 Battalion congratulated the winning team and asked the losing team to work hard for the future. Many respected citizens of the areas, especially the members of local Auqaf & Masjid Committees Muzaffar Ali , Nisar Ahmad Dar , Farooq Ah Sofi , Mushtaq Ahmad Waza , Mohammad Afzal Bhat, Mohammad Shafi Rather, Shahbaz Qadri, Mohammad Yousuf Waza and others also attended the felicitation ceremony. In this tournament almost 48 teams had participated and matches were being played for last more than 2 months and the inaugural match was played by visually challenged players which was inaugurated by noted cricketer Parvez Rasool on May 8th this year (KNS)
