Bandipora, July 30 (KNS) :-The shortage of doctors, paramedical staff and specialists in District Hospital in Bandipora is taking a heavy toll on patient care in the district, forcing them to travel to other districts to seek medical treatment.
Despite the growing population and increasing healthcare needs, the hospital lacks adequate staff, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics.
The local residents said that we are facing a severe healthcare crisis due to a critical shortage of medical staff, including doctors. The lack of proper medical staff has resulted in patients being forced to travel to Srinagar or seek treatment at private clinics, leading to significant hardship and various problems for the community. The inadequate number of doctors has created a void in the healthcare system, leaving patients with no choice but to seek medical attention elsewhere, further exacerbating the already challenging situation.``
While speaking to the media, former MLA Bandipora, Usman Majid, highlighted the dire situation at the District Hospital Bandipora, stating that the lack of adequate staffing is the biggest problem plaguing the healthcare facility.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He lamented that the hospital is woefully understaffed, with only one person doing the work meant for ten, due to a severe shortage of doctors, paramedics, and nurses. This critical shortage is having a devastating impact on the quality of healthcare services, leading to long waiting times, overburdened staff, and compromised patient care. Majid termed this situation as 'very unfortunate' and urged the health authorities to take immediate action to address the staffing crisis and ensure that the people of Bandipora receive the quality healthcare they deserve.
Meanwhile source in the health department said that 31 posts are vacant in district hospital Bandipora which includes one Consultant Physician, 1 Consultant Surgeon, 1 Ophthalmology, ENT, 3 medical officer, 1 pediatrics and others.(KNS)
