Udhampur, Sept 7 (KNS): Senior BJP leader and former minister Sunil Sharma on Sunday visited Thard in Udhampur to review the situation arising from a major landslide that has blocked the National Highway since September 2.
The landslide, which occurred between Bali Nalla and Thard, has led to the collapse of a portion of the highway, suspending vehicular movement and disrupting connectivity to several districts. As a result, residents of Kishtwar, Doda, and Ramban are facing shortages of essential commodities and are concerned about delays in medical emergencies.
Sharma was accompanied by local MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia and senior officials from the civil and police administration. The delegation carried out an on-ground assessment of the affected stretch and interacted with the officials present at the site.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He urged the administration and National Highway authorities to expedite restoration work and ensure that traffic movement is resumed at the earliest. “Immediate restoration is crucial so that Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar are reconnected and relief reaches people who are suffering due to this landslide,” Sharma said.
Officials informed Sharma about the progress of ongoing restoration measures and assured that efforts are being made to clear the debris and restore the road link as quickly as possible.
The landslide has severely impacted the flow of essential supplies to the three districts, prompting repeated calls from residents and public representatives for urgent intervention.(KNS)
