Srinagar, March 6 (KNS): CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami has reiterated his demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, stating that the government's approach towards the region continues to be a matter of concern.
Speaking on recent developments, Tarigami said that despite the government's claim that Article 370 is no longer in effect, it continues to be a point of discussion at the highest levels. "If Article 370 was over, then why does the government keep bringing it up? It is still haunting those in power," he said.
He further criticized the manner in which J&K was reorganized, calling it disrespectful to the people.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"The state was downgraded and divided without consulting us. This is against the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir," he remarked. Tarigami also questioned the level of authority granted to the Chief Minister under the current system. "The Chief Minister does not even have the power to transfer a soldier or a patwari. What kind of governance is this?" he asked.
Calling for unity among people across the region, he urged collective action to restore dignity and rights. "People of Jammu and Kashmir want to live together with respect and rightful authority. We are not begging; we are demanding what is rightfully ours," he said. (KNS)
