Tarigami criticizes 'One Nation, One Election,' calls for strong opposition

 Srinagar, Dec 14 (KNS): Senior CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulangam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has strongly criticized the Central Government's proposed 'One Nation, One Election' initiative, describing it as a means of undermining the democratic rights of the people. 

Addressing a press conference here, Tarigami said, "They want to create autocratic rule in India. Cutting across the party lines, all politicians and public should oppose it strongly." He urged leaders and citizens from all political affiliations to unite against the initiative, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding democracy and pluralism in the country.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel 

The 'One Nation, One Election' proposal, which aims to synchronize elections for the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, has sparked widespread debate across the political spectrum. While proponents argue that it will reduce election costs and ensure stability, critics, including Tarigami, view it as a threat to federalism and democratic diversity. 

Tarigami  called for a united and determined response to oppose any move that compromises democratic values. (KNS)
