Teachers Day 2024 Celebrated With Enthusiasm At GDC Baramulla


Baramulla, September 5 (KNS): Government Degree College, Baramulla, celebrated Teachers' Day on September 5, 2024, with a vibrant and heartfelt tribute to the teaching community. Held in the college auditorium, the event was organized by the Dean of Students’ Welfare and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The event was coordinated by Prof. Shugufta Nasreen, Dean of Students’ Welfare, Dr. Syed Mutahar Aaqib, Coordinator IQAC, and members of the Student Council.

The celebration began with the College Tarana, followed by a formal Felicitation Ceremony. Anchors for the event included Mariya (5th sem), Maryam Bilal (3rd sem), Seerat Bhat (5th sem), Touqeer Javid (5th sem), and Nazneen Bashir (5th sem), who guided the proceedings with enthusiasm.

In her welcome address, Prof. Shagufta Nasreen emphasized the crucial role of teachers in shaping students' futures. Principal Prof. Mohammad Shafi Lone underscored the importance of education and the pivotal role teachers play in fostering a progressive society, and he commended the meticulous efforts of the organizers.

The event featured various cultural performances by students, including solo songs, a student choir, traditional folk songs, and a mashup celebrating teachers. Notable performers included Areeb Ali (3rd sem), Ayman Irshad Masoodi (5th sem), Samia Waheed (5th sem), Simranjeet Kour (5th sem), Zubair Nazir (5th sem), Faizan Hamid (5th sem), Anzar Bashir (5th sem), Ramandeep Kaur (5th sem), and Shafia Qureshi (1st sem). Rafeesa Mushtaq (3rd sem) delivered a powerful speech, and a skit illustrating the educational journey was performed by Mureen Shahmiri (5th sem), Afreen Bashir (5th sem), Bisma Rustum (5th sem), Sohaib Manzoor (5th sem), Faizan Hameed (5th sem), Ahmed Musa Wani (2nd sem), and Anzar Bashir (5th sem).

The protocol committee, comprising Mohsina Bahaar (5th sem), Hashmat Hamid (3rd sem), and Misba Bashir (5th sem), ensured the smooth flow of the event.
The organizing committee, including Suroob Rashid (3rd sem), Shehnaz Hassan (5th sem), Mohammad Kaif (5th sem), Fatima Chisti (5th sem), and Waseem Mir (5th sem), played a crucial role in planning and executing the event.

Prof. Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo, Advisor IQAC and Staff Secretary, discussed the profound bond between teachers and students, drawing on historical and cultural examples. He highlighted the transformative power of mentorship, the mutual respect and gratitude owed to educators, and their enduring impact on personal and societal growth. Additionally, Prof. Chalkoo delivered an informative talk on the Systematic Voter Electoral Participation Program (SVEEP) of the Election Commission of India, emphasizing the importance of voter registration, the electoral process, and informed voting, and urging students to actively engage in the democratic process.
The program also included a certificate distribution ceremony to recognize students for their contributions and achievements.The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Mohammad Kaif, General Secretary of the Student Council, who expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers.

The Teachers' Day celebration at GDC Baramulla was a resounding success, providing a platform for students to express their admiration and appreciation for their teachers while offering faculty members a moment of relaxation and joy.
