Srinagar, Dec 3 (KNS): The inspector general of police Kashmir Zone V K Birdi Tuesday said Security forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police neutralized a terrorist involved in the Gagengeer grenade attack during an encounter on the outskirts of Srinagar late Monday night.
Speaking to KNS, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi, confirmed that the operation was based on specific intelligence inputs and conducted in the rugged and forested outskirts of Srinagar. The slain terrorist, Junaid Bhat, was affiliated with a proscribed militant outfit and had been involved in the October 20 grenade attack.
“This was not in the main city but in the rugged mountainous areas and forests on the outskirts. Our teams tracked the individual for a considerable time, leading to the successful conclusion of this operation,” said IGP Birdi.

Meanwhile, the Police said that the terrorist responsible for the civilian killing in Gagangir, Ganderbal, has been neutralized in a gunfight with security forces in the upper reaches of Dachigam.
"In the ongoing operation, one #terrorist is killed and has been identified as Junaid Ahmed Bhat ( LeT, Category A). The said terrorist was involved in civilians killing at Gagangir, Ganderbal and several other terror attacks," the Kashmir Police zone said in a post on X.
"Operation continues in the upper reaches of Dachigam by J&K Police along with Joint Parties of RR and Security Forces," it said.(KNS).
