Srinagar, Aug 18 (KNS): NC President Farooq Abdullah on Sunday urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to stand united in the face of political and cultural challenges.
"They have the power of the government, but we have faith in Allah and ourselves," Abdullah said, rallying support for the National Conference ahead of the upcoming elections.
Abdullah said that the fight is not merely for political power, but to safeguard the state's identity, culture, and unity amidst growing threats from various forces.
"The enemy is everywhere. Be aware that the enemy is within us", he said.
He said that the National Conference is not just competing for power, but fighting to preserve the region's cultural heritage and identity. "Attacks are being made on us from all sides – our language, our culture, our very existence," he added.
"You have seen for yourself what has progressed and what has not.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelNo one is listening, and there's a campaign to make money that I cannot explain", Abdullah said.
Addressing the importance of inclusivity, he said that the unity of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, and Buddhists is crucial for the region's survival. "There is no other party that can save this state except us. Others want to see only one color, one class moving forward," he stated, urging people to rise above divisions.
"The biggest thing is the booth. Everything is written on how to look at the machine and what to do when it's closed. If you don't take care, anything can happen," he added.
"Our mothers and sisters will have to step out, just as my mother did when she was in jail. We need their strength to win this fight," he said, urging people to prepare for the upcoming panchayat elections where 33% of the seats will be reserved for women.(KNS)
