Bandipora, Feb 23 (KNS): A traffic awareness programme was held at the Bandipora bus stand on Thursday as part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month 2025.
The event was organized under the supervision of SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh, and DySP Traffic Bandipora/Ganderbal, aiming to promote safe driving practices and traffic rule compliance.
The event witnessed active participation from over 100 individuals, including drivers, students, and local residents. The gathering highlighted the importance of following traffic rules to ensure safer roads for everyone.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Ravinder Pal Singh stressed the need for road safety awareness and assured immediate action against illegal vehicle stands in Bandipora. He urged everyone to strictly follow traffic laws to reduce accidents and create a secure environment for road users.
The programme also focused on common traffic violations, particularly those involving bike riders and underage drivers of two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Participants were educated about the risks of overloading, speeding, and negligent driving—key factors contributing to road accidents. Officials also reminded attendees to carry essential documents like driving licenses and vehicle fitness certificates, as required under the Motor Vehicles Act.
An official present at the event stated that similar awareness initiatives would be conducted regularly to encourage responsible road behavior and improve traffic management in the region.
The locals said that the transport remains absent in evening hours which forces people to hire 3-wheeler auto vehicles at exorbitant rates. The SSP gave patient hearing to issue and assured redressal within shortest possible time.
The programme was appreciated by attendees, who praised the efforts of traffic authorities for their proactive measures to enhance road safety.
ARTO Bandipora, officials from the ARTO office, and other traffic authorities were also present during the event. (KNS)
