Ganderbal, Nov 10 (KNS): Two individuals were arrested, and illegally transported forest produce was seized by Ganderbal police in the jurisdiction of PS Gund in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Sunday.
An official informed KNS that, acting on a specific input, a police team from PS Gund, led by SHO Lateef Ahmad and supervised by SDPO Kangan Mohammad Ashraf, seized a quantity of illegally transported forest produce, known as “Kuth,” packed in 16 gunny bags.
The produce was being transported in a vehicle with registration number JK18C 6556, driven by Bashir Ahmad Raina, son of Habibullah Raina of Ganivan Kangan, along with Fareed Ahmad Akhoon, son of Ab Ahad Akhoon of Rayil Gagangir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Case FIR NO. 48/2024, under Section 26 of the Forest Act and Section 303 BNS, has been registered at PS Gund, and further investigation is underway. Both individuals were taken into police custody and face charges under the Forest Act. The vehicle used in the offense has also been seized, and confiscation proceedings have been initiated.(KNS).
