Two Black Bears Sighted in Bandipora’s Bazipora Ajas; Wildlife Teams Mobilized

Bandipora, Jan 1 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife Department confirmed the presence of two black bears in the Bazipora Ajas outskirts of Bandipora after reports of sightings surfaced on social media. 

Senior wildlife officer Tanveer Ahmad said that evidence of the animals' presence has been collected.

He urged residents to exercise caution, advising, "Children should not go out, especially during early morning and evening hours. During Fajar and Esha prayers, people should move in groups with sufficient lighting."

Wildlife teams have been dispatched to the area, and a cage has been installed to safely capture the bears.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“Our department vehicles are patrolling and sensitizing the area to ensure public safety,” the official said.

The wildlife officer also said that initial evidence suggests the presence of black bears in the vicinity.

Notably, Residents of Bazipora Ajas are gripped with fear, restricting outdoor activities for themselves and their children. Several shopkeepers have also closed their businesses early, fearing potential bear attacks.(KNS)
