Jammu, Jan 9: Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, Northern Railway, Uchit Singhal was on Friday honoured with the prestigious Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar (AVRSP) 2025 by Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw for his outstanding performance and dedicated service during 2025.
The award ceremony was held at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, New Delhi, in the presence of Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna, Chairman Railway Board Shri Satish Kumar and Members of the Railway Board.
Singhal, who assumed charge as Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, along with additional charge of Senior Divisional Operations Manager on March 23, 2025, was recognised for achieving significant improvements in railway operations, passenger services and revenue generation. During emergencies such as Operation Sindoor and the heavy rains and floods in 2025, he ensured effective coordination with civil and military authorities and facilitated movement of stranded passengers through special train operations. Notably, goods train operations were initiated in the Kashmir Valley and new infrastructure, including the Anantnag Goods Terminal, was commissioned.
More than 100 railway employees from across the country were honoured during the ceremony.
Expressing gratitude, Singhal said the award reflected the collective hard work of the Jammu Division staff and reaffirmed his commitment to further improving passenger convenience, safety and revenue growth in 2026.(KNS)
