Srinagar, Apr 3 (KNS) Education Minister Sakeena Itoo has said that the government is actively working to fill vacant positions in the education sector. She stated that earlier, there was a shortage of Chief Education Officers (CEOs), Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs), lecturers, and principals, which affected the education system.
To address this, the government started Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs). “We have filled the vacant CEO and RDO positions. Now, our next step is to promote lecturers and send principals to vacant schools,” Itoo said.
She also stressed the need for staff rationalization. “Where there is a shortage, staff should be placed. Where promotions are due, they should be done through DPCs,” she added.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The minister highlighted that many attached teachers have been sent back to classrooms, ensuring that students get proper education. She also spoke about a key reform—the change in the academic session—to help students study without interruption during winter.
Itoo further said that the government is investing in school infrastructure. “Funds are being spent on improving facilities in primary, middle, high, and secondary schools. We aim to provide resources like laptops and computers to help students progress,” she stated.
She assured that the government will continue working on improving the education system. “Fixing everything will take time, but we are moving in the right direction,” she said. (KNS)
