Katra, Nov 25 (KNS): A group of protestors has issued an ultimatum, demanding immediate attention to their grievances regarding the recently introduced gondola project in the Vaishno Devi shrine area.
The protestors have declared a 72-hour strike and warned of intensified actions if their demands are not met within the stipulated time.
Speaking to media the protestors voiced their concerns, stating, "If our demands are not addressed within the next 72 hours, we will extend our strike to Katra, completely halting activities there. Although the Vaishno Devi track has already been blocked, further escalation will disrupt Katra as well."
Calling for the gondola project to be scrapped, they added, "We urge the authorities to reconsider and revoke the decision of introducing the gondola.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe strike will continue indefinitely if our demands are ignored."
The protest has garnered widespread support, with activists and residents from various districts and states extending solidarity. "We are receiving calls of support from social activists across the region, along with assurances of state-wide and national backing. Notably, members of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Council, including panchs and sarpanchs, have expressed their solidarity and assured their participation in the coming days," a representative stated.
Protestors have warned of significant disruptions, saying, "In the next couple of days, you will witness mass gatherings and protests on the streets, amplifying our concerns and opposition to the gondola project." (KNS)
