Demands Waste Pit to Stop Dumping along Canal Banks

Bandipora, Dec 16(KNS): Social activist Wajahat Raina has expressed serious concern over the increasing dumping of waste on the banks of the canal in Gundpora Rampora village of Bandipora District.

Highlighting the issue, Raina said that while the Rural Development Department (RDD) has constructed a waste collection shed in the area, it is designed solely for plastic waste, leaving locals with no option but to dispose of other types of waste along the canal.

Raina emphasized the urgent need for the concerned department to address this issue by identifying suitable land for constructing a waste disposal pit. "A comprehensive solution must be implemented to ensure proper waste segregation and disposal, preventing further damage to the canal and the environment," he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He urged the authorities to take swift action to protect the canal from becoming a dumping ground, calling it a vital resource for the locals of Gundpora.

"Neglecting this issue could lead to severe environmental and health hazards," he added.

Raina appealed to both the administration and residents to work collectively towards sustainable waste management practices to preserve the area's ecological balance.(KNS)
