Doda, July 13 (KNS): A devastating road accident in Bhatiyas, Doda district, claimed the life of a woman and left 19 others injured on Saturday. The incident involved a Matador vehicle, registration number JK06B-0469, which was carrying 20 passengers when it lost control and rolled down approximately 200 feet into a gorge.
According to an official, the accident occurred at Bhatiyas, an area known for its treacherous roads and challenging terrain. The deceased woman died on the spot, while the injured passengers were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. Local residents have expressed their frustration and anger, attributing the accident to the poor maintenance of roads by the concerned authorities. They allege that despite repeated complaints about the hazardous condition of the roads, no significant action has been taken to address the issue, putting countless lives at risk.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that the vehicle might have skidded off due to loose gravel on the road.(KNS)
