"Three families were happy putting stones in hands of youth"
Srinagar, Sept 19 (KNS ): Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive rally in Srinagar today, urging citizens to vote in large numbers in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.
"You've scripted this history, the people of J&K. This shows aspirations of the people of J&K are at a new height. The world is witnessing how the people of J&K are strengthening the democracy of India," PM Modi said.
He praised the territory's record-breaking voter turnout, calling it a "festival of democracy." Modi emphasized his commitment to restoring peace and providing employment opportunities to J&K's youth.
PM Modi criticized the Congress, National Conference (NC), and People's Democratic Party (PDP) for "crushing Jamuriyat and Kashmiriyat." He accused them of dividing J&K and ruining its children's future. "Our youth were away from studies outside schools and colleges, and these three families were happy putting stones in their hands," PM Modi said according to KNS correspondent.
The Prime Minister outlined several development initiatives for J&K, including depositing Rs 10,000 annually into each family's bank account, up from Rs 6,000, and providing free treatment up to Rs 7 lakh, up from Rs 5 lakh.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe also announced Rs 80,000 for each family installing a solar plant on their roof.
Additionally, PM Modi highlighted the hardships faced by Kashmiri Pandits and Sikh families in the region. "In the last 35 years, Kashmir remained closed for almost 3000 days... whereas in the last 5 years, Kashmir did not remain closed for even 8 hours," he said.
PM Modi noted the transformation of Lal Chowk in Srinagar, once a symbol of danger, now witnessing Eid and Diwali celebrations. "Once unfurling the tricolor at Lal Chowk was about risking your life. Srinagar markets have now witnessed Eid and Diwali celebrations," he added.
In a significant assurance, PM Modi reiterated the BJP's commitment to restoring Jammu and Kashmir's statehood, as promised in Parliament . "We have promised in Parliament that we will restore J-K's statehood, the BJP will fulfill this commitment," he said, reaffirming his government's "solemn promise" to stand by this commitment. (KNS).
