World Television Day Celebrated at Media Studies GDC Baramulla

Baramulla, Nov 21: (KNS)The Department of Media Studies at Government Degree College (GDC) Baramulla celebrated World Television Day with enthusiasm, highlighting the impact of television as a powerful medium of communication and storytelling. The event featured engaging discussions, presentations, and screenings that underscored television's role in shaping public opinion and bridging cultural divides.


A panel discussion followed, featuring faculty members and students who shared their insights on the theme “Television and Changing Media Dynamics.” Prof. Dr Danish Nabi Gada, Head of the Media Studies Department, highlighted the evolution of television over the years. “From black-and-white broadcasts to the digital revolution, television has consistently adapted to societal needs, proving its resilience and relevance,” she said.

Students actively participated in the event, presenting case studies on television’s role in shaping public discourse. “Television is more than just entertainment—it’s a window to the world. It brings global events into our living rooms, creating a shared sense of understanding,” said Bisma Rustam, a 5th semester Media Studies student.

Events like these inspire us to think critically about the content we consume and create,” he shared.

The celebration concluded with a short film screening showcasing the history of television and its impact on society, followed by a Q&A session with faculty members.

The event received appreciation from attendees for fostering an understanding of television’s enduring legacy.  Ronaq zahoor lauded the efforts of the Media Studies Department and urged students to continue exploring innovative ideas in media. “Television is not just a tool; it’s a platform for storytelling, connection, and change. Let’s strive to use it responsibly and creatively,” he concluded.

The observance of World Television Day at GDC Baramulla served as a platform to celebrate the medium's past achievements and its future possibilities, leaving students and faculty inspired to delve deeper into the world of media.(KNS)
