Anantnag, Dec 31 (KNS):Anantnag Police has intensified its fight against drug trafficking and related illicit activities throughout 2024, achieving significant milestones under SSP Dr. G.V. Sandeep.  

Sharing the year's achievements, SSP Anantnag stated that a total of 123 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were registered, leading to the arrest of 185 accused individuals. Among these cases, 102 were charge-sheeted in courts, implicating 126 individuals. Additionally, 24 persons were detained under the stringent PIT NDPS provisions.  

Highlighting the seizures, Dr. Sandeep revealed that Anantnag Police recovered a substantial quantity of contraband, including 2.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel641 kg of charas, 383.500 kg of cannabis (bung powder/bung fuki), 510.648 kg of poppy straw, and 1.64 kg of brown sugar. Furthermore, 1,350 bottles of intoxicant syrups and 300 strips (10,000 tablets) of intoxicant capsules and tablets were seized during the year.  

The police also made remarkable progress in disrupting the financial networks of drug traffickers. Properties worth ?26.40 crore, including 17 houses, nine shops, and ten vehicles, were attached in 26 cases. Additionally, cash amounting to ?10,71,755 was seized.  

SSP Dr. Sandeep commended the police's unwavering efforts and urged citizens to support law enforcement agencies in their mission to eradicate the drug menace from the district.(KNS)
