Srinagar, Dec 4(KNS): Mudasir Karim, Youth President of JK Peoples Conference, has expressed outrage over the soaring prices of school books in Kashmir, terming it a "fleecing" of parents who are already struggling to make ends meet.
In a scathing tweet, the president questioned the rationale behind charging ?3000 to ?6000 for school books for small grade students in Kashmir, with a whopping ?6000 being charged for Nursery / 1st/ 2nd etc grade books. This exorbitant pricing has left many parents in Kashmir worried about how they will afford the books for their children.
"This is nothing but a blatant exploitation of parents in Kashmir who are already struggling to provide for their families. The Education Department's failure to regulate book prices has turned education into a luxury only the elite can afford in Kashmir," the president said.
