Srirangapatna, Dec 1(KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Zuhaib Yousf Mir, today visited the tomb of the legendary freedom fighter and anti-colonial hero, Tipu Sultan, in Srirangapatna, Karnataka, to pay his respects and commemorate his contributions to India's struggle for independence.
Tipu Sultan, known as the "Tiger of Mysore," remains a symbol of resistance against British colonialism. A visionary ruler, he led numerous battles against the British East India Company, fiercely defending his kingdom and people. His legacy as a valiant freedom fighter and a progressive leader continues to inspire generations.
Speaking at the tomb, Yousf Mir highlighted Tipu Sultan’s crucial role in the anti-colonial struggle. "Tipu Sultan was not only a great military strategist but also a leader who understood the importance of unity and secularism in a diverse land like India. His fight against colonial rule was not just for his kingdom, but for the idea of a free and united India, where people of all faiths and backgrounds could live with dignity," he said.
Yousf Mir further emphasized the relevance of Tipu Sultan's values in today’s political landscape. The PDP leader also condemned recent incidents such as the violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh and also condemned the recent controversy surrounding Ajmer Sharif Dargah. He stated that such acts of provocation undermine India’s secular fabric and communal harmony. "The recent unrest in Sambhal and the Ajmer Shreef controversy is a stark reminder of how attempts to divide communities on the basis of religion undermine the unity and integrity of our nation. These incidents only play into the hands of forces that want to disrupt the secular harmony that has been the bedrock of our democracy for decades," Mir said.
Zuhaib Mir’s visit and statements reflect his ongoing commitment to promoting the values of secularism, unity, and peace in India. He called for greater efforts to bridge divides, uphold the ideals of Pluralism , and work towards an India where every citizen, regardless of their background, can live in peace and prosperity.(KNS).
