2 Punjab based drug smugglers arrested in Qazigund, huge quantity of poppy straw recovered

 
Srinagar, July 06 (KNS): Anti Narcotics Task Force on Thursday said that it arrested 2 Punjab based drug smugglers and recovered huge quantity of Poppy Straw from their possession in Qazigund area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that ANTF Kashmir recovered 32 packets of Poppy Straw concealed in a vehicle near Qazigund on yesterday from two Punjab based Narco-smugglers namely Amandeep Singh and Manohar Singh of Gurdaspur, Punjab. 

He said that the duo was arrested on spot and the vehicle was also seized, while investigation with regard to backward and forward linkage is going on. 

The official said that arrests of more involved drug peddler and dealers are also expected.

He further said that in the last one four cases under various sections of NDPS Act were registered by ANTF, while 4 persons involved in drug smuggling have been arrested in these cases.

Those arrested have been identified as SK Shafi of West Bengal, Javid Hamid Abdullah of Maharashtra, Waqar Ahmad of Rajouri and Sameer Makhwana of Gujarat. (KNS)
