Srinagar, Oct 10 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) on Tuesday , observed October 10 th and remembered its founder shaheed e Millat . It is on this day in 1965, that Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq (RA) was arrested and imprisoned in various jails for the next almost three years.
AAC in a statement said that Shaheed-e-Millat, was arrested along with dozens of leaders and hundreds of workers of the organisation for voicing people’s concerns and representing their aspirations .
Shaheed-e-Millat was kept in solitary confinement at the Satwari Jail Interrogation Centre in Jammu and was severely tortured . AAC said that it will always remember the sacrifices that their leader gave for his convictions .
On this occasion, AAC reiterated its demand and appealed to the government that the political prisoners who have been detained for years in various prisons in and outside Kashmir be released forthwith . These prisoners have been away from their family and loved ones for years, suffering even on grounds of health. It will help in improving the situation on ground and send a positive message , it added.(KNS)
