Srinagar July (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference provincial VP Kashmir and in-charge of the Lal Chowk Constituency Ahsan Pardesi presided over a meeting of the Amira Kadal block at the party headquarters, Nawai Subh, today. 

Among others Provincial President Women’s wing Er. Sabiya Qadri also addressed the meeting and urged the cadre to stand united and be ready for any imminent challenges. Additional Spokesperson Sheikh Ovase and YNC Kashmir functionaries Faiz Bhat, Nisar Bhat and others were also present on the occasion. 

Lamenting the new ration policy, Ahsan said  the new ration policy ever since it has been in vogue has disturbed the nutritional demands of the people, particularly the poorer sections. 

“Consumers are being taken for a ride. The reduced rice quota, the main staple food in Kashmir, has resulted in a crisis, especially for the middle-class and low-income population. Closure of the Jammu Kashmir Food Entitlement Scheme (JKFES) in September 2022 and the subsequent withdrawal of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) plunged the region into a severe ration crisis,” he said.

Among other public issues, organizational issues were also discussed in the meeting.(KNS)
